Dental Check Up
When do You Need a Dental Check Up?
There are general guidelines for the timing of dental checkups, but your specific situation may require a different schedule. The most-recommended schedule is once every six months. This is also the recommended schedule for cleanings, so most dentists will combine the two. In this scenario, you'll typically get your teeth cleaned first, and then the doctor will pop in to give you the dental check up. If any cavities or other problems are found, a treatment plan will be discussed on the spot.
If you have periodontal disease, highly active caries (cavities), or another unusual situation, you may need to get a dental check up more often. In these cases, every three months is often recommended. You may also need more frequent teeth cleaning, as well. The extra cleaning helps to keep disease at bay and promote healing.
